How Gopher is funded

Gopher is funded by paid listing plans. Businesses can list for free, or pay for the Verified ($49) or Premium ($99) plan, billed yearly in NZD.

What paid plans change

• Verified listings show a Verified badge, a logo and extra profile sections.
• Premium listings appear above free listings in their category and region, and can be featured on the homepage.

How paid listings are labelled

• Each listing shows its plan, so you can see when a business has paid.
• Homepage sections that only show paid listings are marked "Paid placement".
• Links from paid listings carry rel="sponsored" and links from free listings carry rel="ugc", as Google requires.

What money cannot buy

Paying does not get a website approved. Every listing, free or paid, passes the same review under our editorial policy. We do not write reviews of listed businesses, and paid listings never appear as editorial recommendations.

Advertising

Gopher does not currently show third-party ads. If that changes, ads will be clearly labelled and kept separate from listings.
